Trauma-InformedBreathwork

Breathwork has been an interest of mine for several years, and I have experienced various methods through different practitioners. But I have to say, the type of Breathwork I decided to receive my certification in is the most powerful I have experienced.

Called Consicous-Connected Breathing, or Circular Breathing, CCB Breathwork can create dynamic shifts in our physiology (body and nervous system) and altered states of consciousness.

Because of the active continuous breathing method, it mobilizes the tissues of the body,  shifts us out of conscious mind patterns, and can discharge what is stuck in our physical and emotional bodies. It offers the potential of profound healing and transformation, especially when practised reguarly. The advice is, keep breathing!

How is it trauma-informed? This comes from my professional experience and training in working with all types of trauma and dysregulation. While this type of Breathwork is not suitable for everyone, it can create immense change in a system that is stuck.

Breathwork is a somatic therapy! Because it directly engages the nervous system and body, it can be a powerful addition to a therapeutic program.

Finding Your Voice With Breathwork Workshop

Date TBA- from 9:00am to 1:00pm

with Jodie Cara Lindley

Fee For Workshop: $140

This workshop was inspired by my experience working one-on-one with clients, through somatic healing.

One of the most common areas of blockage I see is in the throat area, called in bodywork the "Avenue of Expression". Also known in the energetic realm as the Throat Chakra. This avenue can become blocked from a very early age.

Reflect on all the times you were told to be quiet, to stop talking, stop crying, don't be angry, or expressing how you felt in any way. And, at some point you perhaps just stopped voicing yourself and closed up.

Let's get curious about this. With gentleness, compassion, and with PERMISSION.

This half-day workshop will be a teaching and exploration of this theme of finding the voice, culminating in a Breathwork session, with group processing post-breathwork to share and integrate.

Why Breathwork? In my experience Conscious-Connected Breathwork can mobilize all the structures connected to our throat area, and facilitate a deeper relationship with our voice.

Cautions for breathwork:

  • a history of cardiovascular disease, including angina or heart attack, high blood pressure, use of a pace-maker, glaucoma, retinal detachment, osteoporosis, significant recent physical injuries or surgery.

  • seizure disorders or for persons using major medications. It is also unsuitable for anyone with a personal or family history of aneurysms. Pregnant women are advised against practicing Breathwork without first consulting and getting approval from their primary care physician. Persons with asthma should bring their inhaler and consult with their primary care physician and the breathwork session facilitator.

**if you are unsure, please contact your doctor to check if breathwork is okay for you.
